Artist Statement 

Lindsey Machado is a San Francisco-based contemporary artist, metalsmith, and educator working across sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, woodworking, and assemblage. Her practice begins with curiosity: collecting, making, exploring, and paying attention to the small things that often go unnoticed. Influenced by the Arts and Crafts movement, family traditions of making, and the places she has called home, Machado combines traditional craft techniques with reclaimed and everyday materials.

She is interested in how objects can become containers for memory, carrying traces of the people, places, and experiences that shape us. Her work often moves between the functional and the fantastical, transforming familiar materials into objects that feel playful, mysterious, or newly discovered. At the heart of her practice is a belief that making can cultivate curiosity and help us see the ordinary differently. She hopes her work encourages people to slow down, look closer, and recognize the small pieces of magic already surrounding them.
